[It was the week before Christmas break and all through the town, all the students were partying and acting like clowns...

Right, so, it's the last Hogsmeade trip before Winter break. Mid-terms/Finals are done with and finally we can start to let our brains rot over the holiday season. Are you shopping for those last minute gifts or just out to have a good time in the recent snow fall?

Whatever it is your doing, it might be a good idea to check out The Hogsmeade Town Map for an idea of shops, though, come on, you've probably been here enough times by now to know where things are.]

[Tony seems to forget that he's talking to a prefect. She gives him a tired sigh.]

I'll pretend I never saw you then - but if you run into any other prefects or professors I can't help you.

Oh, good. I got into a bit of fight with a woman who wanted the last copy of a book that I wanted at Tomes and Scrolls.

[She waves down the barmaid for a drink and begins to pull off her gloves and scarf. Don't think she didn't see you eyeballing her bags, Clint.]

I don't know, are you deserving of a gift?

[He had a feeling she did. After all, Pepper hadn't dropped into the seat fuming or anything And, hey, at least he isn't going through them....yet.]

Well, let's see. [He started ticking off fingers as he made a point] I passed my tests with OUT cheating mind you. I haven't been deducted house points in a week and I haven't even had extra detention or anything for that long either. Plus, my birthday is in a few days. Gotta at LEAST get me a birthday present. You got Phil one after all.

[At this, he hands her the rest of her items.]

Speaking of summers, how was yours, Pepper Potts?

Of course I won. [A little proud grin and then a nod of thanks to the barmaid who places the drink in front of her.] Tasha has been teaching me some stuff.

I suppose those are all true...[She makes deliberate move for the bag but then stops.] But you know, Phil has been making me tea before my patrols shifts every night. I don't see you doing that.

[Hooray, someone who isn't getting on his case for breaking rules.

He looks a little horrified on hearing about the Hog's Head's hygiene.]

And they don't get shut down? [He is too used to pristine restaurants.] Maybe I should next time.

[He taps the mug with his wand and pulls the liquid out to hover in the air while he magically cleans it.]

[Well, he had to go and do it, didn't he.

Some drunk had insulted a girl as a "Mudblood" while walking past the Three Broomsticks, to the point where he threatened to cut her hands off. Well, Donald couldn't let that kind of threat to someone's life and dignity go unpunished, and had had words with the drunkard. He had really been about two seconds away from just taking his broom and smashing it over the hostile old man's head, even as the old man threatened to use an unforgivable because, in his words, 'they'd let him off killing the filthy ones'.

Thankfully a less inebriated and much more clever customer of the bar had suggested a better alternative - a butterbeer drinking contest where the loser who passed out first never showed his face around the Broomsticks again and the winner got his drinks for free. Donald couldn't resist. It was in his blood somehow

...So how many glasses of butterbeer has Donald had thus far? Judging by the amount of mugs...a lot. Two dozen at least, to the complete amazement of the patrons and the pub's chantelaine. And still as lucid as a man who hadn't had a drop. As for the old wizard who had started the whole affair, well, he was nowhere to be found after his tenth mug.]

Winter can be just as wonderful though. There's Christmas and snow - I suppose the cold is a bit of a trade off but that just means sitting by the fireplace!

[She's sure to get a good hold on her packages this time before speaking again.]

I told you to call me Pepper, remember? And it was rather uneventful. I was babysitting for most of it to make some money but at least I got to see some friends. What about yours, Donald?

I'm not letting you pay for my things and carry my bags as well.

[Do you see how many packages she has, Tony? Do you? She can barely carry them herself.]

[She gives him a look and an amuse smile.]

It's part of their charm. It's a shady place for shady people.

[Clint shakes his head. He'll never get used to this mentality.]

[Nonsense. Let him do what he wants. He reaches out to grab her bags off of her-- and holy crap his arms. Spell to shrink everything down go and then shove them into his pockets. Tadaa! See he can do it.]

I have a lot of money that needs spending. I'm stimulating the local economy.

[He pouts, which he will completely deny. But it's a clear childish pout.]

[Clint had heard the ruckus and decided to investigate. Only to find Donald drinking a poor guy under the table. He shook his head and pat Donald's shoulder]

You better not be drinking this place out of butterbeer.

[He took the empty seat]

[She looks almost kind of horrified when he shrinks down all her packages.]

Be careful! Some of those are delicate! Well I have enough money from babysitting this summer and I intended to buy everything myself this year for people.

[And it's things like that that remind Pepper that even though he may be two years above her, he's still two years younger than she is.]

I'm allowed to have plans in my free time. And frankly, you don't have any say over what I can and can't do.

It's alright. I understand that a little bit; I'm introducing myself as Pepper to people now instead of Virginia or Ginny.

[She brightens.]

Really? Oh, that must have been fun! Did you enjoy yourselves?

[She's shaking her head as she greedily pulls the butterbeer towards her.] Nope! I'll never let you two turn me. I'm a prefect, remember?

Well now I don't feel special at all. I'll have to have a word with him. [She opens her mouth and looks as if she's about to answer but shakes her head instead.] Nope. I was going to wait for everyone else to arrive so I could give them all out at the same time.

Stress and sugar are never a good combination. [And that's exactly why he's staying away from sweets.

To Clint's other comment, he just shrugged.] Bucky's gonna come stay a week, so it won't be completely dull.

[Clint waltzed in, a bag of gummi worms in one hand (they actually wiggled thanks to a charm but other than that they were pretty much like the muggle kind) and a bag full of other Honeyduke's candy in the other. This was always his second stop and it didn't take long to find Tony.

Unlike most, Clint could care less about whether or not Tony had permission. The kid went where he wanted and trouble followed. Besides, Clint had snuck out a few times himself when he'd been under the age.]

Oh, we still have time. [He leans back, self-assured and smug as usual]

[He shrugs] Phil hates it when I say this, but he's basically turned into the Hufflepuff Den Mother. He knows just what everyone needs and is able to get it for you. There was a sick second year a few days ago and the guy actually escorted him to the nurse...AFTER making him a cup of hot cocoa mind you.

[He frowns, but he has a feeling he's not gonna get Pepper to change her mind on this.] Fine. Then they better get here soon. [He can always try to sneak a peek if Pepper gets up for some reason]

Noted. But I still passed all my OWLS so it wasn't a complete failure.

Good. Least Bucky can drag you outside and make sure you aren't studying all day.

Absolutely not. If anything I am helping their business, which shall enable them to stock many more barrels than anyone could fathom to empty.

It is a pity the girl at the center of this argument is no longer here. Perhaps I could have persuaded the old man to render an apology before he was carted away.
