It was a surprise to everyone when Tony showed up at school after the Christmas holidays. It was a further surprise to see him acting like his usual self, at least outwardly. The few people who knew him well could see how he struggled to pretend everything was alright. But he shrugged off all displays of concern and insisted he was fine with a plastered on grin. It’s difficult to help someone who refuses the help and eventually (reluctantly) things went somewhat back to normal.

What the public doesn’t know was that his parent’s death was no accident and Tony was actually there when it happened…

Why weren’t they moving? Who was that man standing there?

Tony snapped awake, taking heaving breaths and reminding himself that he was in England at Hogwarts, not back in America, not in that room and not in the mansion with only a house elf for company. He slowly sat up and rubbed his chest, feeling the metal through the thin fabric. It was a reminder that he had lived while they did not.

He bit his lip. He wasn’t a child, he wasn’t going to be a baby and cry. He was the man of the house now (the only one left), he had to be strong. Stark men are made of iron. Slipping silently out of bed he pulled out a suit case under the bed and quietly undid the clasps. There gleaming softly in the moonlight was a red and gold armoured suit. Tony stood up and stretched his arms out and the pieces floated up to fit in place around him. Encased within it, Tony closed his eyes and relaxed. This was safety.

Once he composed himself he opened a window and jumped. He let himself fall freely before letting the magic kick in and the repulsors activate and Tony sped up into the sky.
