How Pepper and Tony first met.

If you asked them how they met, they’d both give very different accounts.

Tony would smirk and say that he swept her off her feet and wooed her with his handsome good looks and irresistible charm. Pepper would then roll her eyes and say it was Stockholm syndrome and that was not what happened. She would say that she was minding her business one day when a particularly stubborn fungus attached itself to her and Tony, stop sulking, it’s not a good look.

This is what actually happened.

Tony’s years at Hogwarts were characterised by spending a couple of months in each year level before inevitably being moved up when it became clear he was too far ahead. Pepper on the other hand, went up at the same rate as most people who are not child prodigies do. Tony is twelve and Pepper is fourteen when their years overlap briefly. Pepper or Ginny as she was more commonly known at the time, is sitting in potions class when Tony waltzes in with a note declaring him to be the newest addition to the class. She has no interest in him other than an idle one in seeing the youngest Stark in the flesh.

But somehow, it’s at her table that he chooses to join and he gives her a slow look over before crooking a grin at her. “So, do the curtains match the drapes?”

The slap lands Pepper in detention for a week. Someone manages to snap a shot of it and the look of utter shock on Tony’s face is immortalised in the papers the next day.

(Tony would later publicly say that was the moment he knew she was the one. He’s only mostly joking.)
